Makers Mark Joinery proudly announces the completion of a quintessential timber frame barn, nestled amidst the serene landscapes of West Wales. Utilising the robust and locally sourced Douglas Fir, this barn is a testament to our unwavering commitment to traditional post and beam construction techniques, embodying the enduring charm and strength inherent in such craftsmanship.
The Story Behind the Design
Our approach to this project was guided by a dual focus on efficiency and authenticity. The design process led to the innovation of pre-fabricated clad side panels, streamlining the assembly process on-site without compromising the barn’s aesthetic appeal or structural integrity. This method not only facilitated a more efficient construction timeline but also ensured that the barn could withstand the challenging coastal climate, marrying functionality with classic design in a harmonious balance.
The Construction Process: Realising the Vision
In line with our ethos of sustainability and minimal environmental impact, the construction of the barn incorporated eco-friendly practices, notably the use of saddle stones to support the timber posts. This choice significantly reduced the need for concrete, aligning with our commitment to environmentally responsible building techniques.
